WaxID — Terms of Use

Last updated: 27 July 2026

These terms apply to the WaxID iOS app and the service behind it. By using WaxID you agree to them. If you downloaded WaxID from the App Store, Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies; where the two conflict, these terms govern the WaxID service itself.

1. What WaxID does

WaxID identifies vinyl records from a photo of the record's label or sleeve and matches them against a database of releases from Discogs. Identification is automated and best-effort: matches can be wrong or missing, especially for rare pressings, and market price statistics are indicative only. Always verify the match — particularly before listing a record for sale.

2. Scans and fair use

Free use includes a daily scan allowance; paid subscriptions raise it. Allowances are tied to your Apple account's use of the app and reset daily. You may not attempt to circumvent allowances, probe or disrupt the service, or use it in bulk by automated means.

3. Subscriptions

WaxID offers auto-renewing subscriptions (Collector and Seller tiers), billed through your Apple account. The price and billing period are shown in the app before you buy. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period; you can manage or cancel them in your Apple account's subscription settings. Refunds are handled by Apple under their standard policies.

4. Your Discogs account

Connecting a Discogs account is optional and uses Discogs' own login; WaxID never sees your password. Actions the app performs on your behalf — adding to your collection or wantlist, creating marketplace listings — run against your Discogs account and are governed by Discogs' terms of service.

You are the seller. Marketplace listings created through WaxID are your listings on Discogs. You are responsible for their accuracy (including condition grading and price), for completing sales, and for complying with Discogs' seller policies and any applicable laws. WaxID is not a party to any sale and charges no commission.

5. Availability and changes

We aim to keep the service available but do not guarantee uninterrupted operation. We may change, limit, or discontinue features; if a change materially reduces what an active paid subscription provides, you can cancel and Apple's refund policies apply. We may suspend access that violates these terms.

6. Disclaimer and liability

The service is provided "as is". To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim warranties of accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses — including losses arising from misidentified records, incorrect price suggestions, or marketplace sales. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law. Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid for the service in the twelve months before the claim.

7. Privacy

Our Privacy Policy explains what data the app sends to our server and how to get it deleted.

8. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of its courts, without affecting any mandatory consumer protections of the country you live in.
